Week 15 Blog: What I'd like to develop

What is one thing you'd like to develop in yourself? What I would like to develop in myself is more confidence with my new chosen career. Once I become advanced at my profession, I become really sure of myself and confident in my abilities. I would also like to become a leader in the industry and develop better leadership skills. I'd like to be completely self reliant and in charge of my own life after enhancing my designing skills and salary to a self sufficient point. I can't think of anything else at this moment but I hope to achieve the above in 3-5 years.

Week 14 Blog: Inspiration in Colorado

Image
Share something that you love about Colorado that inspires your creativity. I think I have to be cliché when I say that I love the outdoors here - it's the best thing about Colorado. However, my favorite part of visiting mountain towns is the art galleries and stores. Better yet, I love when there are seasonal art festivals that all the local artists gather and come together to in order to sell their creative pieces. When you look at different works, it is always inspiring because you see new creative ideas and how they are accomplished, whether it be paintings, photography, jewelry, sculpture, etc.

Week 13 Blog: Personal Creativity Development

Image
My personal creativity and development has changed over this semester by having my hand forced at challenging myself. Before, I would easily throw in the towel when things seemed too difficult or hard - per my own personal thoughts on my design capabilities.  This happened multiple times throughout this semester when it came to being presented with new 2D or 3D Motion projects on programs I hadn't used before. I would procrastinate, start the design, and when something wouldn't work - get a strong sense of panic and imposter syndrome, and then ultimately cry lol. But honestly, after getting all THAT out of my system, I would bring myself to problem solve and end up with some of the best design projects I've ever done.  I guess you could say that the way I developed my creativity was by building my confidence. Doing these projects instilled a strong drive and desire to prove myself and also brought out my huge competitive streak. I am more than capable of doing big things an

Week 12 Blog: My Major - Digital Design

Image
I decided on my major after having a long career in the animal field for 10 years (dog training, zookeeping, aquariums, etc.). During this period, I briefly entered into customer service while getting my degree in Psychology - to better pay for my schooling and cost of living.  After graduating that winter semester, Covid happened. At that point, I decided I no longer wanted to pursue and continue the animal field professionally. It honestly just wasn't sustainable pay wise long-term, compassion fatigue was at an all time high, and because it is such a saturated & competitive field - the way animal workers were treated was always as disposable.  I had actually originally wanted to pursue being an artist back when I was in highschool, already coming from a drawing and painting background. During that time, Graphic/Motion Design was called "Computer Art" but I was already pretty decent at it. I planned to go to SCAD but my dad had discouraged me from that path, telling

Week 11 Blog: Teams

Image
I've had both positive and negative experiences working on teams. The positive aspect being that I love when people express their creative ideas and come together to make something amazing. Working on a team and brainstorming is the best thing ever, especially when individuals think outside the box. The negative aspects of working on a team are when people don't pull their own weight, follow through on their part, or don't contribute to the point where you have to do all the work yourself. In this case, I prefer to work on a project alone. On the bright side, at least I have full control of making it into my vision at that point?  Overall, working on a team is beneficial only when everyone is passionate about the same idea.
